Bear Creek Nature Park and the Oyster River are beautiful. Our mission is to be stewards in the preservation, protection and enhancement of these natural environments and all they offer.
The Oyster River now has healthy populations of salmon, trout and steelhead.
The graph shows the number of salmon returning to the Oyster River since 1971. The increase in the number of returning salmon since 1988 is dramatic. The average for the past 30 years is about 42,400, of which nearly 70% were pink salmon, 22% were coho, with the rest being chinook and chum.
